5 Great Things / March 2024
Fancy yourself a white sweatshirt. A perfect red swimsuit. Two-toned hardware. Classic khakis!? And some shockingly good desert mocs on the cheap.
Welcome back to another edition of 5 Great Things. This week I am feeling ready to swap out my closet. It’s been fun(ny) trying to balance that itch with the fact that I still literally need a hat, scarf and gloves to push the YoYo. Minnesota is getting 16 inches of snow today…good luck to everyone in the midwest!
With this in mind, here are some things I’ve bought, borrowed and am thinking about. If you’re up on the comments section (last week we got into it!), you’ll know I started this week pondering why I chose to wear a white sweatshirt to an all day doctor’s appointment for my kid. They gave him a birdhouse to paint halfway through the day and while I started out annoyed about the potential mess on my canvas of a top, I quickly came to and leaned into the wonderfulness of them providing an activity, accepting that I would no doubt get dirty.
And then I sensed a theme. I have been wearing white Dickie’s all winter. And a white cashmere triangle scarf over all my coats. Wore a white fuzzy sweater on an overnight flight (though that might have been psychotic.) What is it about white lately that has felt so right? Part of it is a subconscious rebellion against the wardrobe limits of parenting an active toddler I assume, but I don’t want to read tooooooo far into it. White just feels clean and tidy and life lately has felt…busy. So why not embrace that sense of clean, calm and collected in your crewneck after a shower? Hair brushed and braided back! Ahhhh, so good.
Wear A White Sweatshirt
I’ve been wearing two white sweatshirts over the past month (one plain, one with a whimsical little design) and they both just give my outfits a hit of personality that what would otherwise seem extraordinarily simple (i.e. jeans and a sweatshirt.) They look a little retro, a little off, in a way that grey or navy would just feel standard.
