5 Great Things, May 2023

Another issue of five great things. Fun stuff from around the internet that (I hope) you haven’t seen before.

Gap Jelly Strappy Sandals

I just ordered these. Plan to keep in my kid’s park tote all summer so I can wear them in the sprinklers. How cute are they for the pool, the beach, getting the mail!? Also…in true Gap fashion they are one million percent off. So like…$20. I can’t wait til they get here.

Easy Shorts

Two pair of shorts I plan to wear LOTS this summer. On the left, the most recent drop from Uniqlo U. I (in a frenzy) went to the store months ago and bought these full price, and now that it’s time to wear them, they are of course, totally still available, and $14.90. At least someone will get the benefit. They are a soft super super super pale seafoam green denim but cut like a chino. **Though they feel cooler than a chino on.** The color is lovely. They feel like a great jean short alternative for when jean shorts would really be the best option but don’t make me feel like my best self.

On the right, an orange poplin pair by by Malene Birger. I have these in black, which of course I can’t find on the internet now! but I actually think I like the orange better. My mistake is your gain, once again. Its such a great shade! These have a drawstring that you can’t see which gives them a fun sporty vibe, but feel pretty dressed for such a light weight summer item. Two thumbs up. Very easy to throw on with Birkenstocks (or above jellies!) and a white tee.

Left: Uniqlo U. I usually say size up in any jean short related item, but actually. Do not do this, this time around. My 26 is perfectly roomy. Right: by Malene Birger. For these, if you are between sizes, size up. But otherwise, your size should be great!

A Silly Sweatshirt

Since this is a safe space, I will admit that I have this for me and my kid. Happy Mother’s Day everyone, btw. It’s really fun to wear. I feel like a 1980s olympian off duty when I pair it with a washed out pair of 501s. But its also simply very cozy when I’m working at my computer late into the night.

Finger In The Nose sweatshirt (LOL)
So tired. Sweatshirt helping. Wearing a size small.

WHITE. LEATHER.

Why do I love this bag so? I was anti-white leather for so long. And all of a sudden, I can’t get enough. I actually can’t explain it. Can you!? I was watching this bag earlier this year in the two-toned nylon versions and totally missed out. The size is so fantastic - it can fits lots but still gives off pouch vibes. And the strap is nice and skinny. Maybe the ridiculousness of it all is why I want her so? Am I just in need of some F.U.N.!? She is IT for this summer, IMO. Leather Spa is laughing all the way to the bank.

The Row Bourse Bag in WHITE. LETHA.

Summer Skivvies

Less glamorous than a white leather pouch by The Row, but I love these undies for summer when I’m wearing lots of white and linen. The lace isn’t bulky, the edges don’t cut in and they keep up well with a million washes. Not exiting, but helpful at least! I am partial to this three-pack but they sell different skin tones individually as well.

Natori Undies. Just what your white jeans were pinging you about yesterday.

That’s all for today. Sending love and peace to you and yours on this Mother’s Day.

Yours TRULY,

Becky

I love this notion of a (OUR!) safe space. I wear my jelly fisherman sandals everywhere + decided they are more comfortable than hot, full coverage sneakers for my 10,000 step walks.

Took myself right to Gap to acquire those jellies. As I recall I wasn’t allowed to have jelly sandals as a kid, so perks of being “grown up,” right? I might even try them with some pistachio colored socks. Sized up to accommodate.
