5 Great Things, Oct. Edition

Slow down!!

How’s everyone doing? Is it just me or has this fall hit like a freight train? My family was down for the count this week with one of the four thousand viruses spiking in NYC right now. You too!? You don’t say!

My energy levels are depleted, but I can still share the five things bringing me joy right now. Simple as that this week.

My goal, on a T-shirt

I’ve gotten to the frizzle-frazzle, cannot-turn-off point of literally needing to wear a reminder to TAKE A SECOND. I always roll my eyes at the term self care because seriously, WHO HAS THE TIME. But my disastrous bout with (self diagnosed) RSV this week is leaving me feeling like I need a vitality regimen A-sap. (Hi Daphne Javitch! I just ordered all the supplements from your newsletter.) Until then, I’m just going to wear this T-shirt (above) around the house. And everywhere else.

The clever company, Okay To Rest, is done by a graphic designer in Canada. She is so good at balance, and color and design. And I am here for what she is saying! Sizing is unisex. This is a small.

A stiff navy trouser

I bought these at the Attersee trunk show this past week (or was it the week before? Its all blurring together.) I’ve been wearing them in place of jeans since I bought them, non-stop, at least when I’ve left the house that is. The fabric is so nice and the fit, fantastic. These are a size 2.

Attersee pants. The chic-est jean alternative this fall! Also, welcome to my living room where we are gearing up for Halloween. As I said, energy levels are depleted, I didn’t fluff the pillows.

A really soft, really pretty bra

This is the first underwire bra I have worn since pre-covid!! I thought I would never go back. But sometimes you just want to feel a little nicer than Skims. I love this bra so so much. The fabric is so soft. The little trim is just enough to make you feel pretty but still function like the everyday-get-up-and-go bra you want in the arsenal.

Else Lingerie bra. The best thing since Skims.

The finally off the waitlist Mary Jane

I sign up for just about every waitlist. If I see it, I put my name down. Its like a compulsion. And it’s not often that I get the restock alert (so curious why so many brands even do this!?) But I have been watching this Ayede Mary Jane for months and months and months. I go back to the site and check all the time, but no luck. And then this week! To my excitement! Amazement! I got a restock notification for this shoe! My order has not arrived yet, but I’m excited. I *think* it’s going to be a real wardrobe hero for me. The $275 price tag is perfecto for the 50% chance of precipitation that will be my weather alert for the next few months. And I really love how skinny the ankle strap is, and the faint square toe. I’ll report back when they arrive on Tuesday, but I have HIGH HOPES!

A price is right Mary Jane.

A brown felted jacket

I’ve spent the past decade(s) building a coat wardrobe. But of course now my lifestyle and the general trend cycle has me leaning towards jackets. Gah!

So now that I’ve started ruminating about outerwear, I’ve been thinking about this little number Leandra posted a couple weeks ago. I can’t stop thinking about it actually…and another navy jacket she has too, but I digress. I hope its not the whole “see someone stylish, must have their stylish thing” syndrome that she also recently wrote about so poignantly! Anyway…I NEED A BROWN JACKET! :)

The two I’m craving most. Left: Lafayette 148. Right: Lou Lou Studio (Leandra’s!)

That’s all folks. Next week start to dip our toes into the holiday season. Still to come before 2023? Gift guides! Party dressing! Staying home dressing! Will be a festive time for your inboxes. Get excited.

Yours TRULY,

Becky

P.S. So much great feedback from sweats last week, thank you so much! I will get back to you all as soon as the antibiotics work their magic.

Loved everything ♥️

I also feel myself trapped sometimes thinking I should have all the stylish things Leandra has, lol. I try to test the time, if I still want something I saw long ago (and if it fits my wardrobe), maybe it’s worthy buying it. That’s a maturation process I still have to go through, though 🤭
