A gift guide today specifically for the gentlemen and kids in your life. Don’t worry, a more general “cool and pretty stuff” gift guide is still to come. 10 ideas here for all subscribers that you (hopefully) haven’t seen elsewhere plus more for paid subscribers only, as a thank you for supporting the work. Happy holidays!

For the gents

A knock around watch

A Hodinkee collab watch will pretty much always be failsafe but I particularly love their affordable collaborations of the past few years with Swatch, G-Shock and this newest launch from Timex. Just a great everyday watch your guy won’t have to be precious with, that has a teensy bit of that insider watch guy cool factor, without being in any way showy.

A light or heavy jacket: whichever he’s been complaining about more

My clients have all been asking me about outwear for their significant others lately. Two of my favorites for different temperatures below. Both will last and are are great for a post-suit lifestyle. A classic Baracuta which my dad is getting (mom don’t let him read this!) and a Japanese down puffer.

Rosële Fine Mesh Strainer

While I do not endorse gifting women kitchen tools (unless they specifically ask for them!), in my experience men LOVE “top of the line” kitchen supplies. This fine mesh strainer (7.9 inch specifically) is so so so nice, and great for men who use lots of tools and dishes in their meal prep. My husband is getting this, which I had to spill the beans about, but I couldn’t not share with you!

Old J.Crew <3

Something about this color combo and style is really speaking to me. Seems right for so many different personalities. Plus I love that retro brand tag. Just size up a little, in my head it should fit like a shirt jacket.

An extremely powerful, extremely tiny flashlight

A few years ago I spent a full day reading amazon reviews for flashlights to find the perfect one for my husband. I must say, I think its the most used gift I’ve ever given him. He loves it, and now so does my kid…so this is a hybrid gift suggestion I guess!

A Parchie Pal

The coolest kid watch! Not knocking Flik Flak (a very important part of my childhood) but these watches, started by an ex-Hodinkee editor come in awesome colors and have an easy strap for kids to get on and off themselves. Also, probably not a bad idea to encourage kids to learn to tell time the old fashioned way.

Parchie watches, in lots of fun colors!

Alphabet Puzzles

Idk about you but my kid is always more interested if there is a task involved. Love the puzzle factor here, and that you can just focus on one letter at a time which is nice for different stages of development. Also…six bucks. Price is right for the quantity over quality age demographic.

A tiny pillow

My kid is obsessed with his special pillow, especially now that he’s in a bed. I love these, even more without the personalized embroidery TBH. Great gift for that “fancy” friend who has everything, or just a super special kiddo who has enough toys.

Gorp Kids

How cute is this technical gear in jr. sizes?! Got my kid the navy sweatshirt because I love that little running man hieroglyph logo. Great for the kid who’s parents wear District Vision. :)

Shorts, Sweatshirt, Hat

Murakami pancake pan

Family breakfast has never been cuter. Now all you need is a good “hide the spinach” pancake recipe. I can’t help there!
