Jeans In Winter
Very much not the same as jeans in summer
I woke up one morning recently and as I started thinking about getting dressed, I panicked…all my jeans are wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought. I’m being (a little) dramatic obviously, but after feeling extremely confident in my ankle grazing 501s for the last decade, (trends be damned!), lately I have taken them on and then off again too many times, leaving them in a pile at the foot of my bed.
It’s partly because a perfectly straight, worn in jean to the ankle bone is perfect in summer - when you’re throwing on a Birkenstock, or maybe something more strappy. Or throwing on your Vans. But when you have to think about a boot or a sock, all of a sudden, that simple jean doesn’t feel so simple.
And then there is just the simple fact that inseams are decidedly longer now, winter or not. That especially goes for jeans with boots. But jeans with sneakers and/or jeans with heels, too.
And to make matters more confusing, the rise (how high the jean comes on your waist) to leg shape ratio has also flipped on its head! Slimmer jeans are back in a high rise whereas low rise looks a little better with something roomier. So on my quest to do all the work up front and then not have to think about my jeans each morning, I’ve attempted to figure this out…for all of us.
1. The everyday, don’t think twice, where it everywhere, day and night jean
The biggest winner in my great jean try on of FW 2025 we can call it, is this Calvin Klein jean that is currently selling for less than $75 on it’s website. They look nothing like they do on the online model, on me. But I was blown away in the fitting room when I went to the store to scope them out (I’m an investigative journalist people!!!)
