Ski Season
Back by popular demand

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but shopping for a ski kit is harder this year. When did everything turn BEIGE!?!?! Sure, I like a nice tan or grey sweater for the back of my desk chair or for an easy weekend ensemble. But ski is where we are allowed to have more fun. Did all the ski brands learn the term quiet luxury three years too late? And don’t get me started on the safety issues beige brings…we need to BE SEEN on the slopes.
I was going to skip ski gear all together this winter, as the selection is making me dreary. But you’ve all been requesting it ferociously in my inbox, my DMs and the comments. And any good market editor should be able to cut through the clutter to find the gems. So here we are…up for the challenge. Five categories of ski sets (no base layers this week, will discuss in the new year when I’m freezing and can talk of nothing else but layering!) and some actual, fantastic winners in each.
Racing Stripes
2026 is a winter olympics year and we all want to be a retro racer, can you blame us!? There is quite a bit of red, white and navy out there. Trims and racing stripes and contrast zippers. The best versions do this without adding any modern day bells and whistles like gold hardware or too much branding.

Best In Black
Because I know there is a large subset of you that would never wear color as much as I insist you give it a go. It’s a good year for black ski kits thanks to the Nike x Jacquemus collab, making me of all people want to ski in black. Can you imagine!?!?! Unfortunately it was so good that it went faster than the speed of Lindsey Vonn and we will have to procure it on the secondhand market. C’est la vie!
In black’s defense, it’s also the easiest color to ace on a budget (obviously.) I’m a longtime fan of The North Face ski pants (one of the first I noticed to offer a short inseam!!) and DTC brands like Halfdays offering nice fits as well.

Super Technic
I don’t always love a fashion-first look on the mountain. Technical gear is essential on cold and snowy days and honestly…a lot of time, just the vibe. So while I love fashion and I love ski style and all things ski in spirit…sometimes, its about leaning in to the culture you’re entering. My favorite insulated, function first ski combos this season:

Tempering the Tan
Some great colors spotted in the sea of beige and chalky hues. Try tackling the neutrals by pairing brown with a brighter color like this Perfect Moment jacket and Bogner pants below. Or putting a dusty blue with hunter green to at least make the colors feel dynamic. I actually love this Moncler ski pant with attached puffer vest. Kind of brilliant way to stay extra warm without losing mobility in your arms? I’d pair it with Obermeyer’s faded red jacket, which if you click the link and zoom in, has a technical grid texture (plus we have to offset the price of those pants somehow!! :)) And Aztech Mountain seems to have gotten their shades right. Nice greens and oranges and greyish blues. They also have a great neon pink…but that’s for another story.

Experts Only
But then again, what can I say! I am a fashion person at heart. So there are going to be some extremely capital F Fashion ski clothes that I love and don’t really want to justify. Here are my absolute favorite over the top ski suits for this winter….for the MORE IS MOREEEEEE types…and for those who already have their durable Arcteryx kit nailed down from last year. How amazing would one of these look elegantly gliding down a chute? They might look less fab on the bunny hill…but heck, wear what you want.

Happy ski season to those who celebrate. And to the rest of you, a very happy holiday and hopefully a nice little break this coming week.
Yours TRULY,
Becky

As a gal from Colorado I always look forward to this post! And while ski fashion is so fun, it’s a delicate balance to not look like Harry & Lloyd in Aspen! It’s really about the actual functional technical gear, and refreshing when it’s still good looking.
I don’t even ski or board, but the Obermeyer jumpsuit is now on its way to me! My Central Park sledding will look much more stylish now.
