I thought about taking a pause on today’s newsletter to give a moment for our readers and loved ones in California. I’m sure you’re all as glued to the news as I am. But then I thought, not connecting with our communities (even digital ones!) doesn’t help anything. Instead, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, I’ll just invite you to join me in donating to Baby2Baby, which is both LA-based and operates a disaster relief fund. I feel confident my contribution there will be making it to those who need help, and fast. And/or the LAFD Foundation, which, can you imagine a braver or more deserving operation?
Like we have done for gun control drives in the past, I will donate any new or upgraded paid subscriptions this week to the above organizations as well.
Now onto today’s story, hopefully a welcome break from your news apps, or maybe something you are not in the mood for and want to just pin for later. I understand!
At a decadent ladies lunch in December, friend of Five Things Sophie M. asked an important longevity question: “What do I do with all the festive and trendy pieces I bought for the holiday season!? I wish I could figure out how to give them a longer life.” Being the diligent fashion editor that I am, I quickly jotted this down in my “story ideas” note in my phone to tackle once the excitement of the Christmas season wore off. And it wears off pretty quickly, once the window displays are changed and the temperatures drop into the single digits, huh!?
So today, a few ideas to bookmark for how to restyle your sequin skirt (or other sparkly thing) for the rest of winter…and beyond.
