Creeping into the holiday season with mock turtlenecks, satin shoes, non-leather totes for leather jacket wearing, socks to be seen and a pair of at-home (and airplane?) pants
Mock turtlenecks for life! I can’t believe I am saying this but oversized is the way to go for sure. All of a sudden, regular ones are really annoying me…too tight! Icky.
Such a great one today - thank you! Happy Thanksgiving and hoping family business is easy and smooth. 🙏
You are completely out of my league when it comes to clothes, but there are two reasons why I adore your newsletter. You have superb ideas about clothes and you are so cute in the clothes you photograph yourself in. The socks with the sandals are completely disarming and i LOVED the graphic red white and black sweater with the yellow skirt! Have a wonderful holiday season and please please continue to wear clothes for the one reason this old woman continues to wear them: they are so much fun!
Are you originally from MN? Neat. I love your substack - I'm 55, so sometimes have to adapt, but love the joy and power of reusing so may beloved vintage items I've held on to. Oversize Fringe leather jacket circa 1991?
When you come back, I wonder if you might be willing to devote a newsletter to business formal attire? I’m a hospital-based doctor and I feel like I have my business casual pretty dialed in, but I struggle so much if I have to take it up a notch for a conference or talk.
This is very interesting, thank you for bringing it to my attention. So not like, cocktails with colleagues but slightly more dressy for work-centric events? I'm very into this idea...
Yes! For example, conferences and planned daytime talks like grand rounds require more formal attire than regular hospital rounds, and we women struggle. I imagine the female politicians have a similar struggle. The men wear suits. (I have nothing against a good pantsuit, but finding one that is cut for narrow shoulders and a sizable cup size and isn’t nipped in to all hell is… hard .) For many doctors, interviews are also a struggle. Older doctors (comfortably ensconced in their jobs) joke, “who died?” when they see the parade of black suits on residency interview day.
Love your newsletter and your recommendations but as an aside- any suggestions for a winter coat that’s not a puffer for my husband. Your ideas keep me looking great but he needs some help catching up.

Thank you so much for being here! <3
If you could have just ONE pair of Maria McManus trousers, which would it be???
Hands down, the black high waisted crop. The most perfect pant ever created. My most worn, most confident pants.
Thank you! Stunning endorsement :)
Love this! Will you be doing a gift guide this year? Pretty please? :)
Working on one!

Thank you! ❤️
where is the yellow polo from?
and the skirt with it!
They are commission (polo) and margiela (skirt) linked there to the newsletter they first appeared in! :)
Can I ask if the Tory Burch shoes are comfy 😬
I gotta say I really think they are. The square toe makes them so roomy! And I recently wore them for a 13k step day...just checked my phone!
Would you mind sharing what size you’re wearing in the Club Monaco jacket?
4! :)
Also in the skims tee please 🙏
Small! :)

I'm going to do a "husband" category in the gift guide. :)
Becky, thank you for another great newsletter! Are your Me + Em pants black or navy? Thanks!
Mine are black!
