Oh, Becky, another reason why I love you so! Lock him up indeed and thank you for not shying away from the horrible state of tyranny that we live in right now. I take solace in knowing that I am not alone in my persistence to resist this fascist regime. 💙

I’m 5’1”. Any other short girls on here and, if so, can we pull these off?

I think it's about keeping the proportions enlongating. Maybe try something flowy like the kallmeyer and then hem them to just below the knee cap. This way they don't add bulk but also are not highlighting your petite height. An optical illusion of sorts. Someone emailed me and said I looked 6 feet tall in that pair, and I'm 5'5" on a good day! :) I'm going to look for some Kallmeyer alts because they are sold out now. back to you all soon! x

I'm 5'2" and I'm doing the Literary Sport ones (have not yet received them). The denim ones give me pause as a shorter person, because they are also a-line and wide. Having said that, the Olsens do big and wide all of the time, and they are fashion royalty, so if you want to try it, you should!

I have been wondering if I can pull off capris, so this is perfectly timed! Thanks, Becky!

Monica's wardrobe in A Complete Unknown is so 70's and so good! This is how we of a certain age dressed back then. (And she is a local Mill Valley girl so we are quite proud of her....digressing though.) Petal pushers and capris to me are tight and below the knee and the divine Kallmeyers we would have called culottes. Sounds better to call them shorts though. :)

Love this newsletter and all the cute styling you do with all the cute shorts and it really is true, the 70's are calling and they want their clothes back but this time, let's get the proportions right as you do here. Brilliantly!

As an aside, I just read Graydon Carter's new book When The Going Was Good which is a very entertaining page turner and his tales about Trump are very funny. The only things that are! Barf.

How did you get the smell out of the Caron Callahan sweater!? Mine just came and I like it, but am turned off by the strong smell!

I had to air it out for a while. Didn't put it in my closet for close to a month, I'd say. It still smells if a take a big whiff but it gets better. I KNOW. The lengths we go to for a good piece. If you have outdoor space that would take care of it way faster than me in an apt.

I think you could totally pull off a capri for what it’s worth and show us excellent ways to wear them, and I love these looks, too! Especially the look you wore to the singalong!

LOVE -- especially little tidbits re "how/why" -- like you saw the Old Celine runway had styled over pants, so tried shorter pants.

I bought capris from the Gap. I love them but I'm not sure they love me. As per usual I did not stop to think about whether I could pull them off until I tried them on and I have not been brave enough to wear them out of the house but I really really really want to.

The thing with that style is that I do like them, but just feel the need to wear a big button down over them to cover my bum and I didn't want to feel limited in my styling. Since you already have them, maybe try a ribbed tank and a big white button down (or any color) unbuttoned like a jacket? Let me know how it goes!?

It is Irene Neuweirth. Had it for at least 10 years. LFJ makes a similar one. :) https://go.shopmy.us/p-16939335

As someone with muscular legs and calves, do you feel like there is a sweet pot length wise? I tend to gravitate to either midi length skirts/pants or mini-er skirts since I feel like anything in-between..is not flattering.

You know that part of the knee that kind of goes inward, like the knobby part just at the bottom of the knee before the calf starts? Hem to there, giving yourself a natural cut off that draws the eye to a slimmer part of the leg.

Can you reshare the Gap link? It doesn't work for me :(

I believe these are culottes not capris. I think capris are tighter.

LOL yes, traditionally capris are more like the pedal pushers from the beginning, but I use the term for all knee legnth pants!
