Boot Season Returns!
The new, the old and the bold! Boots for five different moods of dressing.
When I started collecting ideas for this week’s letter, I realized a few things.
1. My taste doesn’t really change that quickly. So you (and your wallet) will be relieved to know that the same things I loved last year and the year before still pretty much feel right. Sexy boots. Check! Brown boots. Check!
And 2. My thought process with putting on boots is much more mood and activity based than “style” based. So while I started clumping all these boots into categories: western-leaning boots, tall and wide boots, etc., it was actually much more fun and useful to think about these boots in terms of what we are wearing and where we are going.
As much as we would love to have one boot be our everything for the winter, that seems a bit unrealistic given the dynamics of our full and busy lives. We work! We schlep. We enjoy the occasional dinner party. And we, like it or not, will RSVP yes to the holiday party. Not only will one boot most likely not take you to all of these, but you also should NOT be wearing one boot everyday for five months. You will trash them before we even hit February. A boot needs rest days ( just like our muscles and our bras!) so they have time to dry and regain their elasticity. So a vast selection today, to hopefully fit some of your moods and schedules.
Below, I’ve broken this week’s edit down into five scenarios and the boots for each, instead of simply listing five boot trends that don’t make sense out of context. Do you need five new boots? Probably not. But I’m hoping you find an idea that speaks to you in this mix. We hit on the trends and the boot moods of the moment. But all in the context of Where are you going!? I hope you have as much fun discovering these as I did gathering them. Onto it!
