Not even all pictured. Do you think I have a problem?
I love brown boots. Black leather is something I tend to struggle with. Its just so tough, and I’m so not. Not to say I don’t have my fair share of black boots too, but I love how brown softens an outfit. And throws an outfit off in a way that looks a little more strategic than a black boot. Plus they look good a little beat up, and if you live in NYC, you wear your shoes HARD. I personally prefer suede, but do own one (ok two) leather pair for inclement weather. A selection below:

Some brown booted outfits from the past few weeks. Not sure about you but this week’s almost-holidays-mad-dash has got me looking like this. So apologies for the state of my ponytail and my half-closed eyes.
Old Theory boots. More on that below. I’ve also heard great things about these tuxedo pants. From an industry vet who’s seen it all.
Manolo Blahnik boots procured at a sample sale. I can’t find them on the internet, but a similar pair opens the shopping section below. With an old Paco skirt. Uniqlo cashmere sweater. Something about the brown boots with black tights takes this out of frumpsville.
Officine Generale “Western boots.” More on that below. Skinny jeans forever! :) A navy cashmere blazer and our red sweaters from last weekend.
Blazer+sweater+jean+brown boot
Below is an outfit I put together for my first night out to dinner post covid, post becoming a parent over two years ago. Would still wear it (and do still wear it all the time). It’s a similar formula to the above photo but with kick-flare as opposed to skinny jean. Fail safe outfit.
Make it Christmasy, but lighten it up. These are my newest brown boot addition by Loeffler Randall. They’re like Blundstones (which I also have, oye!) but a bit more polished, and no branding, which I love.
Most importantly. They look great with sweatpants to run to the grocery store when it’s too cold for sneakers!
And also work to dress down your cocktail/out-to-dinner attire on a gross night.
And now for the five to get your hands on
These all do different things, so they are in no specific order. I love them all.
Carmina - not a ton to say here, just a great boot, great price!
A functional heel from A.Emery. Because brown boots look great with jeans and a blazer, a boot with a sleek little lift for your dressier affairs. And the zipper doesn’t look cheap, essential.
Saint Laurent “Western” Bootie - the most similar to my Officine Generale booties above, but honeslty probably better because narrower at the ankle. I know what you are going to say, but couldn’t I just get a western boot. These are not ACTUALLY western, they just give a cowboy-ish nod. Which is important to not look in costume. These are also a classic. Never really in or out of style. You will have and love these a long time.
Basically The Row…but not. Ok, letting you in on a secret here. Theory hired an amazing designer from the Row a few years ago…sadly he has already left, but while he was there he totally revamped their shoe game. Now they are all on the Theory outlet site for basically $200. I LOVE this pair but they have a few great brown options. Check! It! Out! Shoot, do I need these too?
Like Blundstones, but with no insignia. :) Love the gum sole on these Loeffler Randall babes. A little height without needing to feel it at all. I am planning to weatherize these and wear them even when it gets gross outside.
And two honorable mentions but only for once you’ve built your brown boot wardrobe
Loro Piana Open Walks. I looooove what these do to an outfit. Forever trying to mix in classics that defy fashion and just reek of foreverness. Also, you wear these barefoot and they melt into your feet and are a dream to walk all day in. My favorite shade is “petrified wood” though they also come in a beautiful light tan and a chocolate brown.
The Row (40% off!). I love this caramel shade . But their brightness is loud, so really its your third brown boot, not your first. I really want her!
That’s all for this week! Next Sunday is Christmas…so I’m sure you can guess what we’ll be talking about. Until then.
Yours TRULY,
Becky

Yes, spot on, I think brown boots DO soften an outfit, in a way that black boots can sharpen it. I like to wear brown boots with chocolate brown tights and a skirt in autumn, to ease my outfit colours gradually into winter (although I still wear the brown boots/tights combo in winter).
A surprisingly versatile boot colour has been buff/beige suede, like your Loeffler Randalls, worn on the other sided of winter when it's still too chilly for sandals but black feels heavy and wintery.
There is a great brown suede boot (similar to the ones you just bought) on the RealReal- Tory Burch size 8 for anyone looking! I am in Canada so I don’t buy from that site much. Last week I bought a similar pair by Dolce Vita- Huey boot. So timely!
