Yes, spot on, I think brown boots DO soften an outfit, in a way that black boots can sharpen it. I like to wear brown boots with chocolate brown tights and a skirt in autumn, to ease my outfit colours gradually into winter (although I still wear the brown boots/tights combo in winter).

A surprisingly versatile boot colour has been buff/beige suede, like your Loeffler Randalls, worn on the other sided of winter when it's still too chilly for sandals but black feels heavy and wintery.

There is a great brown suede boot (similar to the ones you just bought) on the RealReal- Tory Burch size 8 for anyone looking! I am in Canada so I don’t buy from that site much. Last week I bought a similar pair by Dolce Vita- Huey boot. So timely!

Great post and so true re: black vs. brown. After years of searching for the perfect black day bag, and I have several most would consider desirable, I purchased a dark brown handbag. In the cooler months, I wear it all season long barely taking the black ones out of their storage space. It’s hard to explain, just sets the tone I’m looking for.

Hello! I can't seem to link to the tuxedo pants you reference? Were they also from Me & Em? Thank you!

I love boots too, but since living in Florida I don't wear them much anymore because I get to hot. Love your outfits.

Love this post! Just bought the Loeffler Randall for Stace for Hannukah (20% off LR site!) Question: What do you use for weatherproofing? (Minnesota snowy slush through April!). Thank you!!!

Thank you, Becky! Quick question - does wearing a brown boot mean that you have to carry a brown bag?

I love boots and wish I could wear them more but living in South Florida does not lend I self to lots of boot wearing.
