Have you ever done a column on your strategy for shopping TRR? Do you go in with an idea of what you want or just search a brand or something else?

I am not much of a commenter here but wow, absolutely excellent sponsored post that I feel like I will come back to over and over again this season and beyond! So well done and so relevant to someone who needs to do some very intentional grounding work re: wardrobe rebuilding.

Thank you Becky! This is my favorite newsletter by a mile. I would love to see more posts like this, integrating more affordable pieces into a wardrobe. I know Madewell is a sponsor, but would so welcome your eagle eye on J crew’s sometimes wacky but occasionally RAD mishmash. Thank you again and much love from San Francisco!

Nordstrom has the black dress! And you can return it. I love a good non-clingy summer dress with some structure, good rec.

Someone might have said this before and I mean this as a genuine question not a jab, but 5 things you should buy x 52 weeks in a year (give or take, I know you take vacation) = 260 Things You Buy A year, at a price point of say $100 to upwards of $1000.

What is your personal philosophy around how shoppers should think about building (and maintaining!) a wardrobe --- particularly in light of different income levels and also fashion's hefty contribution to the ongoing climate crisis? How might we think about when to save and when to splurge? In an ideal world, how best to buy? In the world we have now, how best to buy?

Thanks for everything!

SO VERY USEFUL! I just ordered...almost everything you linked. Your photos were incredibly helpful: the styling, the lighting, and seeing the items on you. The only item that really piqued my interest on the Madewell website was the t-shirt but you sold it all! Thanks for filling some wardrobe holes for me.

Becky, I love your newsletter for the many lessons you provide in building a wardrobe for the long haul. This one is particularly instructive and it reaches far beyond the five things listed. I have some beautiful clothes that I don’t wear enough because I try to pair them with other standout pieces. The khaki shirt made my brain explode with all sorts of pairings. And I love the lace top--I found a few on TRR--that will elevate the quiet pieces in my closet.

A dilemma with the teapot blue dress sizing as it’s final sale and it seems that it runs large. Is it stretchy around the top of the square neckline? Or is the square neckline a non-stretchy binding? The underarm/ bust/ neckline seems like the only part of the dress that might not be forgiving, if non-stretch. Would you be able to measure both the 0 and the 2 at the the underarm/ neckline (whatever you want to call it) before you send the 2 off Taylor? Thx! BTW, Madewell DOES seems really good these days!

I've already ordered the jeans - I think they might be the piece I'm looking for to wear some of my silk shirts out at night without looking so business casual. Your ideas have been helping me think more about how I want to look and I really appreciate it.

So. Many. Outfits. Thank you Becky! I haven’t shopped at madewell since like 2018 but I picked up a few of your faves plus the socks and a pair of reeboks bc 🤷🏻‍♀️

Rails also has these plisse pieces and I have in black and an oyster color. They wear and wash well and can confirm they made great maternity dresses!

I love the khaki shirt as an all-around helpmate. But for those of us who abandoned hair color forever (yay!) during the pandemic and went to grey, I worry about the color combination. I found I have really had to change my wardrobe coloring to adapt. Any thoughts appreciated!
