The look with the Miu Miu coat and the COH pants is FANTASTIC.
You don't need Miu Miu leggings and I don't need a Miu Miu hoodie, but any ideas about where to find a similar hoodie? That one is attractive because it looks like it has some structure and heft to it...
Second this! That look is so effortless yet chic! I was thinking perhaps a scuba hoodie could do the work? Like COS, e.g.? Open to ideas and suggestions! PS. IMO the peacoat never left the chat :P
I was planning to say the same thing! That grey hoodie is excellent. It looks like the other stories version may be sold out. Would love a source for something with the Miu Miu’s structure if anyone finds one. I think toteme might have a similar crew neck.
Hi and yes there are two I like to recreate this idea made from super heavyweight cotton. The first from Camber which GQ calls the greatest sweatshirt in history!? LOL. And the second, the heavyweight 10 from Los Angeles Apparel. I'll add this into the story as well. Now these are not fancy hoodies, they are tough, wear-em-in-yourself hoodies. But I think they look ultra cool. (For a more designer-y look I love that Toteme one linked above! And Aritzia every once in a while has some great heavyweight options too.)
I honestly think you could try any of these!!! The Tory and Harris Warf for sure. One thing you could do is get the sleeves hemmed slightly but the length should be no problem. Part of what I like about them right now is that more body types can try the oversized/longer look with them because they don't skim the floor to start with.
Hellooo! Lovvvve these looks! One question; I’m 5’6 and a medium in women’s coats and have a teal jcrew women’s peacoat actually that I loove . What size in mens clothing, should we medium sized ppl reach for? Especially if you’re going for a coat with a looser fit? Thank you!
Like Rebecca said below, you always have to remember that men's clothing doesn't leave room for hips so you wouldn't go as small as you think. I usually go for a men's small or medium. After that the shoulders get too broad for me. You should try the medium if you are a medium in women's.
Same size here! I think it depends on your build and the desired look—I have hips and an ass, but small shoulders/no boobs, so while a men's S usually is great on top, it often pulls around the middle in a not-cute way. If the fabric has some stretch/give, I'm usually good in a M, but I've sized up to an L in certain garments. Sometimes, going up (because of the small shoulders), makes a garment look comically large, not "fashion cool" large, so it doesn't always translate.
Remember that men's garments are cut more straight up and down with broader shoulders, while women's are usually cut assuming we have an hourglass figure, so while a men's size chart for a certain brand might show that you should size down, you might be happier in your usual size or larger.
TL; DR: order multiple sizes? (You're probably fine in a M or smaller, but an L might give you more room.)
Thanks so much! I feel like I’ve learned so much about putting together outfits from you. You’ve increased the possibilities in my closet. Glad I got the subscription.
I LOVE a navy peacoat. It’s interesting that the men’s Jcrew one has the warm lining, I don’t think a women’s one would. Because we don’t feel the cold? Or because we ‘need’ a slimmer silhouette??
Oh more fool me! I have been looking at lots of coats on the high street here in the U.K. and im so disappointed how many I have seen that are unlined, never mind with an extra warm layer. Thanks Ann.
Curiously, I've never seen ANYTHING in any of your newsletters that makes me want to buy item in question, but the way you wear them and your utterly joyful expression inspires me in the wway I wear my utterly different and peculiar taste. I'm old, I've been working on this a long time, but girl, we're sisters under the skin. When you've got it, ENJOY IT.
I know this is about the peacoats, but I am all about that skirt. Got a similar, but slightly plaidier version from Maje late last winter and I cannot stop wearing it.
As a kid, I had a peacoat almost identical to the J Crew one that my grandfather bought for me at the Navy exchange. You can bet it was 100% wool! Wish I still had it.
Just ordered those dome buttons for a J.Crew peacoat that needed something better -- I didn’t know what was better until this post. Thanks for the inspiration 🤩

That link doesn't work in the US sadly
I believe this to be a perfect outfit. It also features a $400 sweatshirt. Trade offs. https://toteme-studio.com/products/crew-neck-cotton-sweatshirt-grey-melange

Here is a better shot of the Miu Miu hoodie https://www.miumiu.com/ww/en/p/embroidered-cotton-hoodie/MJL967_13TC_F0031_S_232
I think these might be similar

Also if you reach out to these folks (found via Etsy via the lady I go to for facials) you could get something similar custom made https://www.aakasha.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=Hoodie&page=3

There is this one which got a whole write up in GQ by Camber: https://allusaclothing.com/camber-131-arctic-thermal-hooded-zip-front-sweatshirt-usa-made.html

I just ordered the LA Apparel. THANK YOU!!
I just ordered this one from Mango! Not loving the polyester composition but the look is on point! https://shop.mango.com/us/women/sweaters-and-cardigans-sweatshirts/hoodie-with-dropped-shoulders_57066031.html
Yeah it has the right thickness! Ooooh. Every time I think I am out, I get pulled back in, ha!
Any recs for the petite readers? These are all gorgeous but I’m 5’ and don’t want to look silly (but want to look, fashion!)

Really touched/honored to be cited by you—from one Rebecca to another!
Thank you! i shall do just that :)

Wow, love all of these different options, Becky!
I need to grab a peacoat asap. I’ve had my eye on a vintage one from Ralph Lauren.

J. Crew has been offering insulated wool coats for women for years! They were my go-to when I lived in MN and had to look professional. Here's an example on the website right now: https://www.jcrew.com/p/womens/categories/clothing/coats-and-jackets/topcoat/new-lady-day-topcoat-in-italian-double-cloth-wool-blend/BM964?display=standard&fit=Classic&color_name=fuchsia&colorProductCode=BM964

The coat layered with the quilted liner is breaking my brain!
Riiight?
The MM skirt is at Yoox, last one size 6 and it is MUCH closer to a dime a dozen

OMG amazing find! I hope someone gets it!
So tempting....
Thanks Becky! What’s the darker gray sweater you are letting? Been looking for the ~perfect~ gray sweater!
It's Madewell! :)
Well I caved and bought the MAJE pea coat and it was on sale at Saks. It came and I LOVE her so much! Worn it several times already.
I know this is about the peacoats, but I am all about that skirt. Got a similar, but slightly plaidier version from Maje late last winter and I cannot stop wearing it.
Becky, you’ve got me into Cos! Would love a roundup of your current favorite pieces from them. I’m really liking the look of some of their coats.

Becky! that first photograph of you in the peacoat! NEVER TAKE THAT PEACOAT OFF!
